How to Install Your Chunky Grips (DIY Style)
You’ve got two options:
Option 1: Get Your Local Golf Shop or Pro to Do It
This is the easiest route because they would do 1000s of grips a year. My experience is it's cost-effective and you'll know it will be done perfectly well. I highly recommend starting with just one grip first — make sure the sizing and feel are spot on.
I actually send 14 grips so you've got one for testing purposes.
Want to reduce the taper? Ask them to build up the lower hand with an extra layer or two of grip tape. This gives you a more uniform feel and better control (especially if you hate skinny grips).
Once you’re happy with the setup, you can get the rest installed.
Option 2: DIY Installation at Home
You’ll need a basic golf grip kit, which includes:
These kits are available on Amazon or most golf gear sites.
Step-by-step:
If you want to experiment with reduced taper, simply add an extra wrap or two of tape to the lower portion (bottom hand area) of the shaft. This customizes feel and helps reduce grip tension.
If you need more help, just Google “how to install golf grips” — there are tons of quick videos that walk you through it.
Enjoy the new grips! They’re chunky. They’re comfy. And they can seriously change your game.
What size are these grips exactly?
They’re slightly larger than a standard mid-size grip. Not cartoon-chunky, but chunky enough to feel solid and comfortable. If you like mid-size grips, you’ll probably love these. If you like skinny grips… maybe not. But the size has been based on the grip thickness I have used for over 20 years. When I show people my grips, for the most part, they love the sizing.
note: I still like to add a paper or two under these grips
How much do they weigh?
Each "Chunky" grip weighs 67 grams. That’s about 17 grams heavier than a typical standard grip (around 50g). The extra weight is up top and helps give you a real solid feel.
Are these full cord or half cord?
They’re half cord – just the way I like it. The top half is corded for control and grip in wet conditions. The bottom half is soft and tacky, giving you a buttery feel.
Do they reduce taper?
Not out of the box. But here’s what I do: I add a second layer of tape under the bottom hand. That flattens the taper beautifully and gives you a more even grip feel. Highly recommend giving it a go.
How do they compare to other brands?
Honestly? No idea.
There are too many grips on the market and everyone has different hands and preferences. If you love your current grip, keep using it. If you don’t – try this one. I chose it after testing hundreds of grips at a factory in China. It’s the one I play with personally. That’s all I can say.
Why are they discounted? Is something wrong with them?
Nope. The grips are 100% awesome.
Only issue? The supplier stuffed up the colour. I wanted a fully dark grip. These have a lighter tone that looks great but gets dirty a little quicker. So rather than cry about it, I’m selling them at cost + freight. Win for you.
Are these brand new?
Yes. They’re brand new, unopened, unused, and stored carefully. This isn’t second-hand junk or factory rejects.
What’s the return/refund policy?
All sales are final. No refunds. These grips are heavily discounted, and I’m shipping them direct from my stock. If you're unsure, hold off. But if you’re game – jump in.
How many come in offer?
13+1 (I am throwing in an extra grip for you to test - this is what I have done - it's a very good idea and then you can set up the other 13 how you like.)
What currency is this?
All pricing is in USD. Why? Because most of my customers are from outside Australia, and USD keeps things consistent.
Where do you ship to?
We ship worldwide. Shipping is calculated at checkout and handled quickly by my team.
How long is the offer available?
Not long. I'm almost sold out. Only have 2000ish grips in stock and this offer is crazy-good.
